You're incorrect. If you read that same page on the ATO website, you'll see that you need to prove your share trading was carried out as a business. This includes amount invested, regularity, repetition of trades, etc. Buying and selling shares is not considered a business on its own. Same goes for buying and selling houses. They are both assets and will be treated as capital gains / losses. Unless you can provide to the ATO you were doing so as part of a business.
