There are quite a few things to take into account when looking at drilling results for gold : -
what type of drilling was use (e.g. was it RC or was it Diamond drilling ?)
what spacing was involved in the location of drill holes ?
what grades were encountered ? (mediocre or significant?)
at what depth was the gold encountered.? ( mediocre grades at depth may not be economic but at shallow depth could be possible)
is there any indication of the width of gold encountered. ?
is the gold granulated (in nugget form) which makes it more difficult to assess potential production (see the original estimates for Wattle Dam compared to what they actually produced when they mined it)
how many drill holes encounter gold and are there some suggestion of extensions to possible gold bearing ground.

All I am concerned with when I look at drilling results is the quality of the grades (are there some very good grades there ?); how deep are the gold strikes ? (therefore can it be opencast or underground ?) ; and how many holes encountered gold out of the drill programme.

If you are following a particular share and reading posts on HotCopper you will sometimes find a poster or two who have a background in geology or mining and whose opinion you come to trust. It takes time but you will develop a sense for someone with genuine knowledge in the field. Otherwise it is a matter of seeing what the company announcement is saying about what they have found and what they intend to do further. That is probably the most important part. Of course you have to be wary of those companies which make a big deal out of what they have got (or try to) and then seek to raise more funds through a capital raising. But you live and learn on that one.
