It’s one of those things with geology, it all paints a picture to determining if a project has what is needed. As I have noted not all are guaranteed with success, but the indicators were encouraging. The sulphides are a good indicator as these will encourage the gold to precipitate out of mineralised fluids, the question is where and what would it look like. We could be metres away from it or kilometres.

Ideally what you do is understand that there needs to be structuring and rock characteristics to encourage this. I can see the likely outline of the shear zone on the diagram shown, ideally you look for folding or likely changes in its orientation to encourage a deformed zone in the rocks around the shear zone.

The core will also help paint a picture, there is trace gold there and increased sulphides which is common in hydrothermal alterations. What will likely occur is the core will also be analysed for fluid inclusions, these will tell the likely age of the events where the hydrothermal fluids originate and therefore tying in with knowledge of Pogo if we sit in the right environment for high grades. Once the company has all data from cores then it will be about looking at the geological model and altering it if needed. This will allow for choices to proceed and indicate the likely next steps, more surveys or drill towards the next likely setting of economic mineralisation.

The likely outcome is we have determined the shear zone is there, looking at structural setting to determine where higher sulphidation exists if it’s in the shear or deformed brittle rocks in the wall rock to the shear or porous rocks.
