FYI. Pegmatites are a granitic (high silicate) igneous (solidified from cooling melt) metamorphic (transforming local rock) intrusion (under the surface).
Whether or not they outcrop is a question of their original deposition and local surface changes over time.
Having some poke out of the surface is just convenient and helpful!
