No I have no problem with them doing that but they made no statement that this was a benchmark comparison against a known dataset.
I do have a problem with them implying they actually went near the Pasadena freeway with a team, a DAVIS retina wired to AVFE and they captured data at the time and within a few seconds it was telling them they had trucks etc. This is not what they did and there is no evidence that DAVIS fed ACFE via the interfacing they said they directly did.
If they had said: "using the benchmark Open Source DAVIS data set of a Pasadena freeway, AVFE and SNAP analysed the data in real time and ..." then all would be good BUT they never said that.
The question is why needlessly mislead? Hard enough to maintain trust when dealing with complex technology and concepts.
