    Thanks JG that made me laugh.

    For some reason the market doesn't have a handle on the results of miners. If you want stable earnings, you go to terminal industries where prices are fixed. If you want to watch profits balloon and shrivel, you go to primary industries. Over time, the profit will be the same, and hence on a rational level the share prices should track the same... but one is more exciting :D
