I am aware that Vocus held "16 per cent of Macquarie’s issued share capital" and there was speculation that they may attempt a takeover, "Vocus already has a 16 per cent stake in direct competitor Macquarie Telecom. Vocus founder James Spenceley said his company would not have bought the stake if it didn't see value in a potential takeover down the track.", but it came to nothing.
Not aware of the of the Tudehope's having "almost agreed to sell their shares to Vocus in 2017", perhaps you could provide a link, in fact I seem to remember them telling Switzer they weren't interested in a takeover. Smart fellas as Vocus turned out to be a disaster.
As for a PE, who knows, IMO the Tudehope's wouldn't be interested, which doesn't make me wrong or you right on either count. GL, over and out.
