Somehow, "yesterdays" seem to keep reoccurring. It is all about risk and cash flow management. Spot is volatile and increases exposure to adverse events. Contract protects against these. A balance of spot to contract is followed by most producers. It was only the Chinese that saved PDN from bankruptcy after the Fukushima driven fall in prices but the shareholders took a tremendous pasting all the same.
