Prime Minister Receives CEO of Australian Aura Energy
Prime Minister Mokhtar Ould Djayi received in his office at the Prime Ministry on Monday, June 9, 2025, Mr. Philip Mitchell, CEO of Australian Aura Energy, which is operating a uranium exploration project in the northwest of the country. The CEO gave a presentation on the progress of the project and the level of funding mobilization needed for its implementation.
In response, the Prime Minister praised the efforts of Aura Energy and its partners, reaffirming the Mauritanian government's commitment to its new mining permit management strategy, which is based on strict adherence to deadlines and the sustainable valuation of the country's natural resources. This interview comes as part of a close follow-up of the major structural projects launched in Mauritania, in implementation of the program of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, with the aim of boosting investment, creating permanent job opportunities, and strengthening national sovereignty in the energy and industrial sectors.
