The advantage would especially be if vessels, upon departing Darwin, proceeded next to a major market for horticultural products such as Singapore or mainland communist China.

If the ship has to offload containers at a transfer port, and then they're conveyed by another ship after a few days, it isn't ideal.

However at present vessels make multiple Oz calls and may not always be then travelling nonstop to a major port for horticultural exports from our shores, so hopefully there'd still be a significant benefit with the AZJ proposal.

I'm sure given its logistics track record that AZJ will in time work with shipping lines to further these objectives. After all, AZJ faciliates the carriage of major exports like coal and wheat, so it'd be a brace man who stated it could never achieve this with containerised exports (or imports).
