The Adelaide to Alice Springs and Darwin intermodal trains are separate from the contract with Team Global Express.
This rail line was closed by Friday 19 January 2024 due to 500 metres of track washing away somewhere between Tennant Creek and Katherine. The Stuart Highway (the main competing road route) was also flooded, but reopened to heavy vehicles by Sunday 21 January in the afternoon.
It's likely that the rail line will be closed for more than a week. There are no media updates visible, nor has AZJ said anything.
