The three trains above give some confidence that AZJ's trains to Western Australia's Perth from Sydney and especially Melbourne are doing fairly well.
Not shooting the lights out given competition from Pacific National, SCT as the two other rail operators plus road transport and for goods that are not in a hurry, coastal shipping using foreign-flagged ships. The latter sometimes take 11 days from Sydney to reach Fremantle, Western Australia and are subject to huge delays due to port congestion, strikes (previously at DP World but starting at QUB's Patricks Ports, bad weather en route, port call omissions...you name it, it occurs.
