This videographer mistakenly states that the first AZJ train was for 'Toll' Global Express not the correct 'Team' GE but apart from that, it's an excellent photographic record in Victoria of this Perth bound train, six days ago.
The shot at about 3:45 is instructive as the shunter quickly completes attaching the second portion of the train to the leading section. You'll see him remove the end of train marker (the red flashing light) from what was the first half. It is extremely unusual in Australia for intermodal (container) trains to have a locomotive halfway along, but AZJ successfully did this. On coal trains, different story: an everyday feature:
It's a reasonable 82 wagons but not maximum length, though a good start. 11 of the flat wagons lacked containers, or 13.4 per cent of the wagons on the train. AZJ has been at pains to specify that initially, only about 70 per cent of the available 'slots' would have containers.
The fellow who raced ahead of the train to obtain later shots on the national standard gauge line between Moorabool (near Geelong) and towards Ararat, Victoria deserves our thanks. He even managed to do this in the Melbourne suburbs, having to know exactly where to go to minimise driving distance and being caught in traffic.
