It may have been an empty grain train operated by Aurizon, but while great that you posted, it wouldn't have been an intermodal as these are years off from operating between Melbourne and Brisbane anywhere near Toowoomba.
Work on the proposed Inland Rail line is suspended between Parkes NSW and the Brisbane area due to massive cost overruns, although Melbourne to Parkes works continue.
