Hmm but the aurizon engines appear so slow which is understable considering the number of carriages and weight..
Just a thought,keep the bulk haulage trains but add some much faster containerised trains for TGE and other parcel container customers for the shorter/lighter parcel service agreement aurizon has one due to the acquisition...
I guess at points on the rail would allow duplication so the faster containerised parcel trains can pass the heavy bulk freight trains.
One way to make the land bridging theory more attractive is to introduce faster trains for the lighter freight because it is a very long distance between SA to darwin and SA to WA.
If there are obvious reasons this would not work be nice.
