I, too, am confused about how this can be considered a strategic investment. My interpretation of the term is a company who has a vested interest in the product / service, eg. lithium explorers receiving strategic investments from battery manufacturers. In Aurora's case, I would have considered a strategic investment to be from an existing printing farm, or a miner intending to have a printer at their facility.
To me, this "strategic investment" is no more strategic than the investments any of us here on HotCopper have made toward the company - except we're dealing with lower dollar figures. In that sense, isn't old mate in Europe just a sophisticated investor?
No issues with the lower price given the typical treatment for sophisticated investors participating in CRs...but call it for what it is and do not mislead the market by terming it a strategic investment.
