The two technologies are completely different and adress completely different market/applications. Additive manufacturing processes as CGS and LBM are not competitors but complementary as machining is with additive manufacturing.
LBM allows to print intricates geometries with relatively low productivity.
CGS an directed energy deposition are more oriented towards reperation, addition of function or obtention of near net shape raw material to limit buy to fligh ration on expensive materials such as titanium.
