Vast have a pilot plant at Jemalong in NSW
It is rated at 6MW (thermal energy) but only 1.1MW electrical output.
Its conversion efficiency, from thermal to electric is therefore 18% which is worse than a gas turbine or diesel generator.

Most solar pv panels generate around 200W per square meter.

Vast CSP 1.1MWe pilot plant occupies an area of approx 250m x 250m for an equivalent output of 18W per square meter.

If the plan is to temprarily store thermal energy in TESS then the losses will increase and final W/m2 will be even lower.
The only way to make up these losses is to sell that energy at a very high price but battery storage will always out compete until they are all discharged.
ie 14D will be at the end of the queue.

I dont expect the Vast CSP to see the light of day.

SolarPV+battery is the way for 14D to generate revenue but I suspect they will spend it all flogging a dead horse called TESS

Been a holder for two years and wish I could be more positive but if they run with CSP Ill be selling out
