You are right , it makes no sense at all, and would go against procedure. MAYBE the word on the street is, that they were behind on their tonnes and were pushing to get the ship filled and they then got caught with their pants down because it was too late to release the ship. Sometimes people can do some funny things to hit their KPI’s. It’ll probably be a dragged out legal process to find the patsy , and just maybe they’ll get some cash . I think Australia maritime has limited liability , so I’m not sure if the full cost for loss of production is covered . At some stage S32 might have to update “temporarily suspended operations” to “operations suspended indefinitely” at least.
