Yes, I hold CBO. My foodie friends will only buy Aussie olive oil as it is consistently high quality and fresher than the Mediterranean product.
I dont understand why CBO is bothering to grow in California. High land and labour costs mean this will always be a high cost production site.
Yes, yes, US consumers like to buy domestic production and this is a good way to build US olive oil market share.
Meanwhile, Australia has abundant, inexpensive land at any desired conjunction of soil, climate and irrigation infrastructure - and the agricultural skills to grow this business without hinderance.
If anyone has insights into the California puzzle, I am all ears.
