I think all the above mentioned are reworkings of old flogged out pits and underground workings that they've found new extensions, not to sure on CAI though. Can probably add fml to the list.
Big advantage imo to having a brand new open pit from surface as previously mentioned the truck cycle times are seriously reduced so you need far less gear to move dirt.
