Pedantic really when you consider that Ecograf isn't reinventing the process but merely making it green via its particular method of purification. It's akin to not granting a patent to a tyre manufacturer on the basis that their process and their tyre are similar to the prior art (namely the Dunlop tyre) and the wheel itself.
