    rather than a strategy I see this as their only option - target a niche area that the larger players are not yet interested in and/or do not have a viable product

    LiS will not ever be a producer with a gigafactory (can't see anyone outside of the existing players being able to find billions to set up a manufacturing factory), so the best case scenario is that this proves out, and it remains a niche product or they license the chemistry/technology out to someone who can build this to scale

    I don't think it's a logical argument that this only applies to the aviation industry - if it has double the gravimetric energy density but at the same weight and can be produced at a similar cost to a Li-ion battery than it would suit cars as well.....the average battery pack in a BEV weights around 450kg, so reducing that by half is a significant saving (at least 10% of the weight of the car and will improve the efficiency)
