Not a good result but to a large extent expected. The halving of the divvie will be seen by a lot of holders as the time to get out. Personally I am glad that they did not engage in the mortgage rate or the deposit rate wars. They have also indicated that they are keeping the credit quality up to scratch and the low rate of arrears confirms that. If one half is all we have to really worry about here I am satisfied. Most of the banks have suffered the same situation to a degree. The outlook statement should give most holders some confidence about a good result 2HY 24 but the annual report will obviously be affected considerably.
