I can't quite recall who it was, but some years back a major class action was taken against a mining company I had an interest in, and that company was found guilty (or at least to have been liable), and though I did not partake in the class action, the small lot of shares I did have and sold prior to the class action was recorded by the legal team. After the dust had settled, I remember receiving a small check in the mail for less than a couple of hundred dollars. I can't quite recall who initiated the legal action, whether it was disgruntled shareholders or ASIC, but whoever it was, the company was forced to pay. This company may have been OZ or Oxiana. As I said, I can't quite recall. But those involved in these current proceedings had better cross all the Ts and dot all the Is. We should all be careful what we wish for.
