Australia is relient on coal ( thermal and coking ) biggest exporter for the royalties ( so called revenue so the whichever government can pay the bills )
I asked a ' greenie ' organizer here on the northern rivers at the recent council elections ' ( yeah the ones that tried to stop the coal ships from leaving Newcastle port) so you wish to stop the mining of coal , what are you going to replace it with that generates the amount revenue that coal does for Australia , no answer silence
I asked her if she had heard of vanadium , or vanadium redox flow batteries no answer and asked me to elaborate , said she will look into it
the majority of the northern rivers population appear to be greenies and show great interest in being green , wondering why they haven't heard of vanadium
2022 whyalla steel mill ran out or couldn't source coking coal to keep the mill operational ( twice ) at the same time there was a
$2.4billion contract out to supply the steel to build the high power transmission towers from Sth Aust through vict to nsw
Guess who got the contract even though chinas steel is far inferior to ours
so we export iron ore and coal to china who send the manufactured product back , simple crazyness it is time for Australia to get back into manufacturing
nuclear was dismissed by various governments for well founded reasons ( coal being easier ) we have ample supply of uranium but with the coal fired power plants close to being obsolete it is time to review nuclear to generate a reliable and CHEAP power supply to startup Australian manufacturing
solar and batteries are not the solution for industry
there is new technology regarding nuclear power plants smaller efficient and more advanced
nuclear subs have been round since the late 70's , small efficient units
