"Vacating a matter" - Trial dates set by a judge can be vacated only by the order of a judge or if the matter has been discontinued (the matter might have settled before the trial/hearing date).
"Vacating a matter" can also occur if the judge allocated to the matter is no longer available .
Damn, I thought it meant someone had shit themselves in the hearing, and the Court had to be cleared. Oh well.
