Ouch. I am a supporter of Qantas but this is a giant mistep. I cant imagine what they were thinking why it would be a good idea to keep a flight for sale for an extended period after deciding to cancel it and then why it would take so long to flow through the comms channels. They had put so much effort into making rescheduling a far more streamlined event.
Together with the misleading statements about the Groups travel credit balance.
Both totally preventable and no benefit to them in allowing this to happen.
I think they really need to think through what they do with the travel credits. They can't press refund as that will piss customers off. Do they grit their teeth knowing apart from the class action it will be over come next year or do they extend another 24-36 months so people have a chance to use them when airfares trend down. Maybe a decision made by the new CEO to get the Joyce monkey off her back.
