If you think that Coles and WOW "play the game " you're kidding yourself. They have shoppers over the barrel and use every sly trick in the marketing book. They have advantages that the little old ladies and the poor bastards on welfare cannot overcome.
For many , the only available supermarket is Coles or ... Safeway (Aldi maybe ... for a few ... but they dont sell the same items that people want) There's great blocks of vacant land held by one of those and they are not gonna give them up.
Coles and WOW donate $$$ to both Labor and Libs ... and they want a return for that.
