If they were selling the same bananas they would have to be magicians! Using your foolish logic does not take into account that fresh fruit that goes off is worth $0 and becomes either pig food or is dumped. Worse still they have to pay to dump it!
Using your simple/dopey examples does not consider the timing and risk involved in dealing with fresh produce. Explaining to your boss that you were unable to sell the 1000Kg of rotten bananas taking up space out the back and feeding the rats means that you need to go work elsewhere.
Buy some COL shares and leave the complex logistics of retailing to those that know how to do it.
