There are real similarities about this stock and LYC. You are correct about the debt however. Lynas debt was roughly half supplied by its customers (Japan) who desperately needed at rare earth supplier from outside of China.
I invested heavily into Lynas when they started to produce NdPr to design spec and it became really possible they would succeed.
I've been trading SYR while they have been mucking around getting their production reliable but have invested now for the long term as I think they have it under control. There will be hiccups of course but things are starting to click into place.
What Lynas has that SYR don't, at least not that they have shown yet, is a brilliant CEO. Lynas holders love their CEO in Amanda Lacaze but I don't hear or read the same love for Shaun Verner.
If Syrah get their management right, we'll be posting rocket ships all over this forum.
