I see the US Govt getting more involved in SYR - possibly helping fund its expansion to be able to handle feedstock not just from Syrahs own (huge - worlds largest high purity) deposit but also from Chinese and other sources. It could be relatively easily optimised for other flake structures…
Make the “value add” part in USA.
Whilst there there why not add on a Synthetic element too. Capture 100% of the value chain.
