I've been reading articles like this for 5 years. It's hard to get excited. The US had instigated plans for graphite then delayed the execution by 2 years because nobody invested quickly enough in processing plants to turn graphite into something useful (AAM). Trump is now dismantling those delayed IRA rules just before they're supposed to come into effect.
Rare earths are the same. Apart from Lynas, China processes most of the worlds RE's.
Whatever happened to the EU plan where they could only import 60% of critical minerals from 1 country? Whoops, only 1 country processes them.
The problem isn't mining. If the US/EU invested quickly enough in AAM processing plants 3 years ago, they'd be self sufficient by now instead of being 100% reliant on China. They knew this 4 years ago and hardly did anything about it.
