PS I once took the main "highway" in Mozambique from Maputo to Vilankulos, which was as far north as I could get given the rebel issues up north. The trip took 2 days and we got stopped every hour by cops wanting bribes. Every hour. That is what you deal with in these countries. I imagine SYR's payment to end the "blockade" was quite significant, even though they can't admit it.
