from my understanding, the reason why lithium is far more suited is because lithium can produce a higher energy density then vanadium. Meaning it can exert a much greater amount of energy for acceleration of a car then what vanadium redox flow batteries can do. However, the low density that is seen in VRFB is far more suited for utility use.
