Yep like you said in this case absolutely it can and will impact on the SP with such low volume.
I was just putting another angle on the short position. Sometimes shorting makes investors nervous, so whilst the percentage of shorts is high against recent traded volume overall its only a very very small percentage of the total shares on issue.
