This forum loves to try and argue that Envirostream are the only mixed battery recyclers. The reality is it just isn't true.

They will argue that other companies send Lithium batteries to other countries for recycling, and therefore the recycling is not done in Australia. So if an Australian company collects, sorts, packs and then sends batteries to another company for processing, apparently that is not recycling. All Envirostream do is a value add step where they shred, and burn the batteries to produce MMD, which they then export to another company . So Envirostream add an additional step to the process and off of a sudden it is now "recycling" in Australia?

The reality is, there are other mixed battery recyclers in Australia.

What is also interesting with this announcement is they mention the Levy, which is a levy at the point of sale, however how much of that money will be taken in Administration? How much of those funds will actually get to the recyclers?

Oh, and John's calculations are wrong and misleading, it is not $2000/tonne, it is $1700/tonne. And that amount is at the point of sale,.
