While mammography is free every two years for women in Australia, additional private visits would be:
3D mammogram, ultrasound and consultation $992.70 (Medicare rebate 35%)
Fine needle aspiration (FNA) biopsy – single $357.25 (Medicare rebate 30%)
Core biopsy – single $407.25 (Medicare rebate 38%)
But it's more invasive and uncomfortable for women (even mammography)
Blood testing would be far less in cost and unless you fear needles, a more acceptable alternative.
