My wife just finished her last chemo today for breast cancer.
She started 20th December. She had a large lump in her breast that she discovered herself. Within 2 weeks she was on chemo. Fantastic care in Australia.
However she had a mamogram the year before which did not pick up any breast cancer and yet a year later the lump discovered was well advanced. She is only expected to have a mamagrom every 2 years.
Could a Bcal blood test have picked up the breast cancer at the time she had her mamogram ? Quite possibly.
The time will come when women have an annual blood test for a general check up and can also tick the box to have the Bcal test completed.
