have sort of been down this rabbit hole as well but no, I don't think Starlink's plans will make BCC products obsolete at all. if anything Starlink might just create new opportunities for symbiotic products from the likes of BCC if SpaceX get anywhere near rolling out the ground infrastructure etc they need for truly global reach.

You could be coming at it from the disaster sector or the "internet to remote homes" angle or even the "reliable coverage for long haul truck drivers" but Starlink's plans for those scenarios all seem to rely on antenna hardware (terminals) the size of a briefcase.

I think if anything the Starlink hype might just be an extra catalyst that directs everyday folk who travel in and out of cellular coverage to a product like Zoleo given the app lets the user send and receive messages seamlessly in and out of coverage (ie Garmin's gadget doesn't).
