Towards the end he discusses competitive risk, mostly centred around the Apple SOS functionality. While he does not get into Starlink to Mobile threat, his overall position on competitive risk seemed to very open to adapting as the landscape evolves. I much prefer this attitude as opposed to pure delusion about it. He specifically drew out that he did not want to be like Blackberry CEO dismissing iPhone and other new technology. He acknowledged there is still value in a dedicated device offering, and that they are always looking at hardware evolution, as well as new software evolution, e.g. near term integrating into other smartphone apps or new modems for data bandwidth to send compressed pictures etc.

I am somewhat comfortable that even if they lose the general consumer, that is probably a market they never had much foothold in to begin with. The niche for the enthusiast adventurer in the consumer category and the specialist enterprise/business customer has always been Beam's core, and there will be optionality for them to explore over the next several years as the dynamics of the market play out.

A helpful reminder that just about any business has competitors, and risks to navigate. Beam has the ability to be nimble here perhaps more so than the infrastructure providers.
