My guess is that he got them from the relationship with African Minerals administration.
We will find out shortly I guess when someone with a large chunk of shares wishes to dispose of them at less than half market value announces change in holdings. Which implies a special relationship with the previous holder, the timing of the previous announcement is too much of a coincidence in my opinion.
Worst case is that AM shares have been sold at a massive discount to friends of TS.
