Popping in and out of the substantial shareholder category is not caused by CBA manipulating the market as though it had a team of savvy gnomes dedicated to doing that. Various funds would buy and sell shares in any company independently of each other, and if they have a nexsus with CBA, the rules require CBA to notify the ASX when it enters the category of substantial investor, or exits that category.
One can safely ignore these ins and outs, IMO.
