I'm no expert it looks to me like 660k shares were rehypothecated from Mitsubishi by Morgan Stanley, which is when a broker takes shares pledged as collateral for a margin loan and uses those shares as collateral to take out its own loan. It's collateralizing collateral, which is very Great Recession sounding terminology.

Widespread rehypothecation could cause systemic risk in a volatile market when brokers have lent out shares that need to be sold to cover clients' margin calls. It's also postulated to be the real reason for the epic Gamestop short squeeze in 2021. Shares were borrowed and sold short, then the buyers, not knowing that they bought borrowed shares, sold those shares short again and so on, which caused the short interest to skyrocket. Not saying that's will happen with us because Gamestop was a failing company so everybody was jumping on the short selling bandwagon, but there can be a rippling effect in these situations. Anyway, that's how I understand it. I'm sure other folks have a better feel for all of this and whytee has posted a more specific scenario.
