They seem to target companies with good technology and strong propsects that are likely to make some good announcements in the future. I guess when their analyst identifies a company that perhaps will need funding to progress their products it comes up on their radar as a target. If a cap raise occurs then they have their hands out to participate at a discount to the current share price and buy back some of the shares they have sold during shorting.
