Nothing would surprise me in this day and age, (in terms of "dodgy"), but I've never encountered your issue in all my years of AGM voting.
I submitted my vote of disapproval very early, and likely others did too, so the Company would have to have been aware a backlash is coming.
Persevere @regmann and make yours count!
