This substantial holder notice is almost entirely due to BT Funds Management No.2 Limited, BT Investment Management (Fund Services) Limited, and BT Investment Management (Institutional) Limited taking a large position by acquiring 3.8 million shares. Even more surprising is that Annexure A shows that this entire purchase was made in the 3 week period from 3rd March to the 24th March!
This probably also explains why the short position in SHV reduced by around 1.2 million shares over the same period. Without the substantial purchases by BT it is quite possible Goldman Sachs may have been able to force the share price under $5 with aggressive short selling like they did last year.
