No the Reddit post made the same wrong assumption that WBC themselves had bought in.
The announcement shows that the transactions go back to April. Just various buys and sells.
Most likely a number of T20 holders coincidentally use the same broker who has custodian arrangements with HSBC - pushing it over the 5% threshold by accident. You’d have to do more detailed research to figure it out.
