How do you accumulate more stock cheaply? Ans, lend someone the stock to short.
This is the big end of town having a different opinion to each other. One betting for and one betting against, both happy to bet at around the current price.
IMO there will be some analysts from the banks looking for some jobs soon, when reality catches up with the availability of lithium chemicals. One group seems to know what is happening in China and the other doesn't!!!
The people from UBS at the event tomorrow will be from a different department to the ones shorting, so KB probably will not be able to 'talk' about it with anyone from UBS.
It makes some sense to me that UBS will/might stop shorting for the present and do a bit more research, if it is a plain short. However if they are working for someone, they will keep shorting to contain the price, provided they can find someone to borrow the stock from.
Shorts were only 968k on Friday, so there was a fair bit of genuine selling as well happening. Someone was taking profits? Perhaps an ex-director? It would be interesting to see a top 20 each week, that way it is easy to see who is accumulating and who is selling.
