BTW, georgedb, does it make sense that Bank of America, with their holding (currently at 8.70%) in SYR, frequently "borrows" SYR shares to short them? And they have been doing it since early 2013. Assume they too did an enormous amount of homework - or did they simply get a good deal with those options/shares sold to them by directors?
I think you will see funds do what funds do to line their own pockets and the rest of us are "shark bait".
